Learning from other Entrepreneurs : the Attitude matters :)
I first met Sourabh from Archohm (an architecture and design firm) at the YCE Awards hosted by British Council, New Delhi. Soon after, we ran into each other at the Indira Awards, where we both were being felicitated for innovation in our work. It is then, that we decided to work on one of Sourabh’s upcoming projects : a new Dilli Haat !
This post isn’t about our work, but what I really learnt from Sourabh in the course of working with him - and what I continue to reiterate each time I speak to a young audience.
Beg. Borrow. Steal. Kill : a must-have attitude.
Beg: for wisdom – for this will guide you for as long as you will want it to.
Borrow : experience – for there’s no better teacher and no amount of “How To” books or posts that can teach you what this will! I say “borrow”, because I really do believe that we don’t have enough time to make all mistakes by ourselves. We must learn from those of others.
Steal : time – for it is never ever enough. When someone tells me they don’t have time, it means they’re not doing enough to make the most of it.
Kill : Egos – and this is the most important for any Entrepreneur or any aspiring one! Your friends probably spoil you by praising you – don’t believe that too much. Know your worth, but really, we do have enough people with false sense of entitlements and we don’t want to add to that brigade! The mission is to work and to do as much as possible. Egos are just silly things that get in the way.
